Do you buy diamonds and gold?

Yes.  We buy diamonds, gold and platinum.  Our gold buyers take their time to inspect and examine each item in order to give you the most value possible.

What is the difference between a GIA and an EGL diamond certificate and why is EGL generally less expensive?

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) was established in 1931 and has set a very strict standard worldwide for the grading of a diamond's color and clarity.  We typically see the European Gemological Laboratory (EGL) grade a diamond 2-3 color grades higher and 1-2 clarity grades higher than if the same stone were sent to the GIA lab.  Therefore, the price of an EGL certified diamond is lower than the price of a GIA certified diamond with the same specifications because the actual diamonds may look completely different in color AND clarity.  The best way to determine the value that you are getting is to compare the diamonds side by side.

Do you have a jeweler in your store?

Yes.  Some of the services we offer include custom jewelry design, jewelry repair, polishing & rhodium, diamond setting and ring sizing.  Please allow an average turn-around time of 7-10 business days.

What is the cost of shipping?

All items are shipped via Federal Express insured delivery and the cost is determined by the dollar amount/value of the piece and the rate of delivery (2nd Day, Next Day, etc). Ask your sales associate for further details.

What are my payment options?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or Pay Pal for immediate delivery. You may also pay by personal check, money order, cashiers check, or certified check.  For these payment options we do have to wait 10 days for processing.

Will I be charged sales tax?

Sales tax is only collected from customers in the state of Arizona.

Why are round diamonds more expensive than the other cuts?

Round diamonds are more expensive because more of the "rough" is wasted when cutting a round diamond.

What type of maintenance will my jewelry require?

A diamond is forever, but jewelry takes special care in order to maintain its beauty.  We recommend that you have a jeweler inspect and clean your jewelry every 6 months to look for any damage to prongs, clasps, and diamonds/gems.  We always recommend that you insure your jewelry for loss and damage through a homeowners or separate jewelry insurance policy.

What type of Warranty do you offer on your jewelry?

We guarantee that the jewelry items that you purchase from The Diamond Source are free of defects in materials and workmanship.  If you ever have a problem with your jewelry items and, upon inspection by The Diamond Source, it is determined that there is a structural defect we will repair or replace the item free of charge.  This warranty is void if the article has been damaged by accident or negligence, or if the damage is caused by normal wear-and-tear, and repairs/replacement can be done by us at the current cost of labor and materials.

Why is my white gold turning yellow?

There is no such thing as "white gold" in nature.  Gold itself is a pure element and is naturally yellow.  Therefore, to achieve the white color, the gold is mixed with nickel and other metals and then it is RHODIUM plated to create the sparkling white color.  The rhodium plating tends to wear off every year or so but your jewelry can be re-plated by most jewelers for a minimal fee.

What is your return policy?

To ensure that you are completely satisfied with your purchase, items may be exchanged or returned for store credit within 10 days.  You must contact us prior to shipping items that are being returned to receive your return authorization code.

Store credit will not include the cost of shipping and will be subject to a restocking fee.  No exchanges, refunds or credit will be authorized for repairs, setting costs, appraisals, custom orders, layaways, used or damaged items, or mountings that have been set or sized.  Items shipped without a return authorization code, with signs of wear, custom orders and pieces that have been sized or otherwise altered by another jeweler will not be accepted for return.

Estate jewelry is final sale and will not be accepted for return/store credit.  Estate jewelry is sold in as-is condition and we will not be responsible for any lost stones or broken, damaged or defective parts.
